The course will take 2 months and will prepare the students in state of the art laboratory techniques, which will permit them to go on with own research required for their diploma thesis. The participants will be involved in ongoing research projects of the participating groups.
Topic group Charpentier: 'Regulation of virulence factors in Streptococcus pyogenes and Salmonella typhimurium'. Summary: The student will participate in the lab in a program that deals with the understanding of how bacteria detect multiple environmental cues, and how the integration and processing of this information results in the precise regulation of gene expression. To tackle those issues, the student will be introduced to a multidisciplinary approach that integrates various technologies including gram-positive and gram-negative bacterial genetics, molecular biology (DNA, RNA and proteins)and cell biology.
