Lectures addressing physical principles and models focussing mainly on skiing but physics of some other sports such as tennis, or sailing will be analyzed. The class starts with the understanding of the origin of snow (thermodynamics of atmosphere) followed by the physics of the interface of ski and snow leading to gliding effects. Finely, various parts of skiing manoeuvres are discussed from the point of view of mechanics (Kinematics, Dynamics, Conservation laws) including moderns skiing techniques such as carving. Furthermore, mechanics and dynamics connected with the tennis equipment and strokes, followed by the analysis of physical parameters connected with sailing will be presented
