This course is founded on 877479 "Crystal optical exercises" and introduces microscopic and macroscopic methods of rock recognition and nomenclature by means of selected hand specimens and thin sections. Contents: Crystal optical properties of rock-forming minerals; Working with the hand-lens. Macroscopic textural and paragenetic features; Rock nomenclature.
