In this lecture we will be concerned with various topics in computational statistical mechanics. The course presupposes basic knowledge of computational physics on the level of the course Computational Physics I and II and basic knowledge of statistical mechanics. The lecture will focus on methodologies to treat complex many-body systems and all methods will be illustrated with current applications. Planned contents include: methods for calculating free energies, simulation of phase equilibria, simulation of rare events, phase transitions, lattice models (Ising, Potts, etc.), nucleation, critical phenomena, liquids, glasses, polymers, simulation of irreversible processes.
