This course gives an introduction to brittle and ductile deformation of the Earth's lithosphere and how deformation histories can be derived from geological structures. Special emphasizes are given to the physics of deformational processes in order to quantify important parameters like shortening/stretching, movements along faults, kinematics and mechanics of strain or pressure/temperature conditions during deformation.
