Mapping experience is one of the most needed abilities for a geolgist. The aim of the mapping course is an introduction to geological field work combined with a brief introduction to sedimentological and tectonic features. In groups of two or three persons a small geological map in the scale of 1:10.000 will be worked out.
The stile of geological field work varies largely, depending on different factors as morphology, compactness of outcrops, lithology etc. For this reason the mapping course is organized every year in a different region (and different tectonic unit) in order to offer the opportunity to obtain a well established mapping practice based on distinct experiences.
