The lecture has two sections, one treating free-living heterotrophic protists, the second covering many aspects of parasitic Protozoa. The goal is to generate a principal understanding of the role of free-living heterotrophic protists in aquatic systems (food webs, nutrient cycling) as well as to tackle the most relevant interactions between protists, other animals and men (diseases).
