Through field work in small groups, the techniques of floristical surveying may be acquired and employed in the framework of a research programme. Participation in the course will essentially widen and deepen an (assumed) existing knowledge of floristics, and improve the ability to recognize or to determine non-trivial plant material as well. Furthermore, understanding of plant distribution patterns on various scales and of the underlying causes, such as habitat diversity, will be promoted.
