This series of excursions presents, by means of field observation, the main features of flora and vegetation of eastern Austria. The spectrum of viewpoints includes floristics, systematics, evolution, adaptation and autecology, plant communities, relationships between habitat-differentiation and plant cover, biogeography, human impact on plant cover, and issues of species, habitat and landscape conservancy. The course is open to students of botany, zoology, and ecology (basic botanical knowledge is assumed). It is recommended to simultaneously take the course (lecture series) "Flora and Vegetation of Central Europe", which is the theoretical complement to the excursion series.
