Defining the constitution and in some special cases defining the conformation of drugs belong to the most important topics of pharmaceutical research. The combined use of spectroscopic data allows precise constitution characteristics and provides to an certain extend information about the purity of the substances. Therefore is the main procedure inevitable for every pharmaceutical scientist. Who should be able to interpret spectroscopic data as soon as he/ she has finished the basic synthetic and analytic studies as well as laboratory practise.
During the first lecture the use of such data will be demonstrated using the spectroscopic information of characteristic drugs. There will be emphasis on additional information such as synthetic procedures or elemental analysis too. During the second and third lecture teams of three students will be given certain examples to solve on their own. Occuring problems could be discussed with the teachers supervising the course. The remaining lecture dates will be used to check the students knowledge by doing seminar-exams. Every student is supposed to interpret spectroscopic data on his /her own.
