Content: Identification of targets; genom-proteom-metabolom; primary structure - secondary structure - tertiary structure; Determination of protein structures: nmr spectroscopy, X-ray analysis, electron microscopy; how to build up a high throughput screening library; chemical diversity in the drug development process; measures for similarity and diversity; euclidian distance, Tanimoto-index, cell-based methods; basics of combinatorial chemistry; solution phase versus solid phase synthesis; mix and split technique; encoding of libraries; use of artificial neural networks in drug development: the drug like/non drug like problem;
Prerequisites: 1st part completed
Exam: oral
