Aims, contents and method of the course

This lecture gives an introduction into the mechanisms of inheritance and the basic concepts of genetics and a survey of the structure and function of pro- and eukaryotic cells. In addition, the cell-cycle and its regulation are explained and several specialised cell types are described.
