Aims, contents and method of the course

This lecture course provides an introduction to the mathematical methods necessary for investigating and solving real-world problems. At the beginning mathematical models and modeling are the scope of interest, later the difficulties are discussed, which appear in computer based calculations like rounding errors and other classes of errors. Afterwards,
numerical linear algebra and one dimensional problems like interpolation, integration, differentiation, and solving non-linear equations is addressed.
