The topics of our course are manifold. We deal with
- famous female mathematicians, the history of the girls' education
- academic and extracurricular socialisation
- statistical data (which type of school, teaching profession or university girls/boys choose, ...)
- interaction between teacher and girls/boys
- differences between girls and boys as to interests, achievement, self-confidence
- studies like PISA and TIMS in view of gender aspect
- highly gifted girls and boys
- girls/boys and computer
- educational material with regard to the gender aspect
- ideas for a gender-equitable mathematics-courseLearning processes that are meant to be put into practice should not be restricted to a cognitive area, but incorporate emotional layers and practical applications.This course is therefore designed in a way that all of these three levels are constantly addressed.
