Based on recently published papers we will discuss themes of general
relevance in evolutionary ecology, using butterflies and moths as
examples (life-history theory, metapopulation concepts, mimicry,
melanism, biodiversity, dynamics under global climate change). In
addition specific case studies will be elaborated on the conservation
biology of selected species (reasons for population decline, options and
possible failures of active management strategies).
