Die diskursive Gegenüberstellung von Beratung und Psychotherapie sowie das Sammeln allgemeiner Grundlagen von Gesprächsführung, Beobachtung, nonverbaler Kommunikation führen die Gruppe zum paktischen Erproben von Beratungsprozessen in Kleingruppen.
Analog einem prototypischen Prozess der Problembearbeitung wird das Seminar innerhalb eines allgemeinen Rahmens in der Schwerpunktsetzung durch die aktuellen Bedürfnisse der Gruppe gestaltet.
Ausgehend von einer kognitiv-verhaltenstherapeutischen Perspektive wird dem schulenübergreifenden Vergleich in Bezug auf die Inhalte des Seminars Raum gegeben.
