Aims, contents and method of the course

Introduction to Research Data Management for Doctoral Students

Research Data Management (RDM) is a set of practices that helps researchers organize, structure, store and share data during and after the research project.

The course will give an introduction to relevant aspects of Research Data Management such as:

- Research data lifecycle
- Documentation and metadata
- File formats
- Data archives and repositories
- Data management plan
- Data management services and tools

The PhD students will learn helpful tips on how to document, store and share their research data during their dissertation project as well as ways to preserve and share data long-term. The course will introduce tools and services for Research Data Management and digital preservation offered at the University of Vienna.
