Aims, contents and method of the course

The lecture will outline the basics of successful written and oral communication in science. Suggestions and ideas to answer the frequently asekd questions will be given:

- Which type of English should I use? What sort of sentences should I use? Which words convey certainty, ambivalence and doubt? Where should I start to write my manuscript?
- How do I describe the figures and tables? How can I tell when a word, a sentence, a paragraph or a figure is redudant? In oral communication, how do I become more confident?
- What are the common mistakes?
- How can I avoid them?
- Is my English good enough?
- How do I go about answering questions from the audience.
