SP1 Fundamentals of Law for Computer Scientists
In this section an introduction to the Austrian legal system is given: among other things the three state authorities, the legal actors and the different legal areas are treated. Modern knowledge representation of law must be done in three interlinked levels: text, visualization and code. (4 hours)SP2 Contract Law, Part A: Understanding Contracts
Contracts are of central importance as a "self-created law" in the economy. This section is concerned with a general section that is important for understanding, with topics particularly relevant to computer scientists in practice, e.g. Specifications, warranty claims, maintenance contracts, service level agreements and outsourcing.
(5 h)SP3 Contract Law, Part B: Software Design of Contract Regimes (General Terms and Conditions)
Computer scientists must be able to implement contract regimes in code (for example for a webshop). This section addresses key issues such as web presence, electronic identity, information requirements, advertising, automated contracting, advance payment, liability privilege, service provision, consumer protection and dispute resolution.SP4 Protection and Transfer of Intangible Assets (Company, Reputation, Intellectual Property, etc.)
This section explains how reputation, goodwill and "intellectual achievements" can be protected and transmitted (that is, licensed or sold). Emphases are placed on the UWG (unfair business practices), copyright and trademark law,
IAS5 Privacy and Privacy Personal data is processed in virtually every computer program today. The duties involved are explained in this section. Emphasis will be placed on the new General Data Protection Regulation.
(6 h)SP6 Business Organization: Corporate Law, Labor Law and Employee Protection
This section not only deals with the classic employment relationship and "new" forms of employment. Computer scientists in particular "start up" companies, which is particularly important here, is also explained. (1 h)

The grading is based on a final test. Participation in the lecture will be considered.
