Die Vorlesung beleuchtet anhand literarischer, epigraphischer, numismatischer und archäologischer Quellen Form, Inhalt und Entwicklung des Triumphes in Bezug zur Gesellschaft und Geschichte, zur Architektur und Topographie Roms. Schlaglichter werden auch auf das nachantike und modernes Nachleben bis hin zur zeitgenössischen Bild- und Filmproduktion geworfen.
