Presentation of the supervisor of the course, joint reading and analysis of textual sources. Material for the preparation of the respective units will be distributed in advance among the participants via the internet.

Written exam or short paper and oral examination.

The course provides an introduction both in the Middle and Late Byzantine history and in current debates within the fields of Byzantine and Medieval Studies.
