Aims and competences gained:
Students will gain the ability
- to independently analyze the various dramatic techniques.
- to learn the typology of Elizabethan and Jacobean drama within the wider framework of European Renaissance drama.
- to identify the characteristics of Elizabethan and Jacobean dramatic texts, theatre and staging.
- to acquire the knowledge about the development of various types of critical approaches to the plays of William Shakespeare.
- to reflect on the various kinds of interpretive approaches to Shakespeare's plays in relation to the specific cultural environment and their placement in the appropriate socio-political context.
- to analyze individual contemporary film adaptations of Shakespeare's plays in comparison with the original texts.
