Examination topics

Lecture and accompanying reading. Detailed handouts and further readings are provided on Moodle.

Assessment and permitted materials

Written examination (test with general questions concerning the various topics discussed in the lecture). No materials or tools, except for paper and pencil, are permitted.

Update due to COVID-19 (26/09/2020):
Examininations will take place online as a "take-home exam". Students are provided at the scheduled exam dates with tasks that need to be addressed and submitted within 7 days. All materials are allowed (open book format) .

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Students have an overview of important milestones in the history of linguistics, they know some central controversies and paradigms, and they are able to contextualize and judge the history of linguistics in epistemological terms.

The exam of this lecture is passed if at least half plus one points ofthe maximally reachable points have been reached (details will be elaborated at the beginning of the lecture).
