Examiners

Information

Examination topics

The lectures will be presented using slides. This material will be entirely included.

The papers to be assigned individually will be distributed to the whole class after they are presented. This information will also count as test material.

Assessment and permitted materials

The evaluation will be continuous.
Short exercises will be done during the lectures.
A few number of papers (topic-related) will be given to each student. A discussion on one specific topic will be requested once during the semester.
A mid-term quiz will be done based on the slides provided as lecture notes.
A final oral exam will be scheduled individually at the end of the semester.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The mid-term quiz will serve as measure tape of how the knowledge is building up to continue further with the second part of the course.

The oral examination will focus on assessing the students' understanding of the physical principles and phenomena behind low dimensional solids and both microscopy and spectroscopy techniques covered during the lecture.

We will emphasize on understanding the fundamental concepts rather than looking for derivations of complex formulas.
