The written examination "STEOP: MP Introduction to International Law" comprises the subjects "Fundamentals of International Law" and "Fundamentals of European Law".The following material delimitation applies to the international law part:- Script "Introduction to the International Foundations of Law: Introduction to International Law", 5th edition, 2017, available at the Faculty Office Jus, Juridicum, Stiege 1, 1st floor.- Introductory lecture: the slides for this can be found on the Moodle platform, registration for the course 030477 is possible via the course catalog and is required for the download.For the European law part, the following material delimitation applies:The subject of the MP "Introduction to International Law - European Law Part" is the main features of formal and substantive European law. It is about understanding as well as mastering the basics of European Union law.The material covers the script by Thomas Jaeger, "Introduction to European Union Law, Foundations - Institutions - Enforcement - Internal Market Rules" (2021). Alternatively, the German-language script by Thomas Jaeger, Einführung in das Europarecht (3rd ed., facultas, 2020) can be used for exam preparation.
Assessment and permitted materials
Written examDuration of the examination: 60 minutes. The workload for the subjects European Law and International Law is estimated at 30 minutes each.Permitted aids:For the European law part, uncommented treaty texts such as: Code of European Law (current: 28th edition), Code of Business and Law Study Edition (current: 8th edition), other uncommented treaty texts, e.g. Blackstone's "EU Treaties & Legislation" (current 32nd edition 2021-2022) as well as printed versions of the treaties (to be found on the EUR-Lex site http://eur-lex.europa.eu/collection/eu-law/treaties.html?locale=de) or LexPack FÜM I are permitted.For the international law part no documents (no code, no international law texts, no statutes of the United Nations) are allowed.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
There are no admission requirements for the written module examination.
In order to pass the examination, at least 30 of the 60 points must be achieved. In addition, a minimum number of 15 points is required in each subarea.
