Information

Examination topics

The content of the examination are questions of the digitalisation of the legal system. This is done in two ways: on the one hand, students should understand the influence of digitalisation on the shaping and finding of law ("legal tech") and, on the other hand, recognise legal issues of digitalisation ("IT law").
In the first area, questions of accessing and processing legal information are dealt with. The focus lies on online research techniques, electronic legal transactions, electronic forms and signatures, online dispute resolution, smart transactions and the use of AI, for example, for the evaluation of large amounts of text.
In the second area, knowledge of substantive issues of digitalisation is required, with particular emphasis on contract law, liability law, data protection law, consumer protection law, e-commerce law and intellectual property law.
You can find the subject area delimitation on the Department website. https://id.univie.ac.at/en/teaching/exam-digital-law/
