Assessment and permitted materials

The exam will consist of three parts: answering 20 single-choice questions, a cloze text consisting of 15 gaps, and answering two open-ended questions. The exam will be conducted in an open-book format, so study materials are permitted for consultation. As described below, the rules of good scientific practice apply, the use of language models such as ChatGPT is not allowed.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The lecture is considered passed if at least 60% of the maximum possible score on the exam is achieved. The grading scale is as follows:
100%-90% of the total points: Grade 1
89%-80% of the total points: Grade 2
79%-70% of the total points: Grade 3
69%-60% of the total points: Grade 4
59%-0% of the total points: Grade 5
IMPORTANT: The rules of good scientific practice apply. According to the current regulations of the University of Vienna, the submitted exam can be subjected to a plagiarism check (Turnitin). Within the assessment period of four weeks, oral inquiries about the subject matter of the exam may also be made (plausibility check). According to the Austrian University Act, "plagiarism exists, at the very least, when text passages, theories, hypotheses, findings, or data are taken over without marking the source or the author(s) and are presented as one's own" (§ 51 para. 2 no. 31 UG 2002, see also the link from the Study Dean on the definition of plagiarism: https://studienpraeses.univie.ac.at/infos-zum-studienrecht/wissenschaftliche-arbeiten/plagiat/).
Therefore, it is prohibited to include unaltered (copy-paste) content from external sources (e.g., additional texts) without marking the copied passage and indicating the source in one's own exam work. The use of language models like ChatGPT is not permitted.
