Examination topics

For a good understanding of the matter it is essential to be present during the lectures ,unfortunately this was not possible this year. We offer our Power-Point presentations and additional working material in form of written comments will be offered. These can also be usd for the exam.History of electron microscopy, the cell in the electron microscope, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, sample preparation methods, cryo-preparation, element -analysis with SEM(EDX), element- analysis with TEM (EELS/ESI), sample preparation for element- analysis. immunolabelling, 3D- methods for EM, model organisms.

Assessment and permitted materials

Written examination at the end of the term ( dates to be determined). According to the present situation, the exam will be held online and not in the form of a question catalogue, for which a number of points are distributed. Rather a written "Essay" in answer to 2 complex questions will be asked for, from which we can evaluate the knowledge and understanding of the matter.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The written exam must be positively passed. For every exam individual topics will be asked for, which will be passed on to the students at 12 o'clock of the appointed date. There will be 24 hours time to write an essay of 3 - 5 A4-size pages. Until 12 o'clock the next day the essay should be sent to both of us, Dr. Reipert and myself, Dr. Weidinger as Word-document and via Email.
