The lecture addresses students of Art History and is open to interested students of other disciplines such as Oriental Studies. The discussion is based on formal and comparative analysis put into a historical context.
Assessment and permitted materials
Exam (most likely multiple choice) in the last session at the end of the semester. Preconditions: regular participation and reading.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Einführung in Bauaufgaben und Bautypen, Motive und Formen religiöser und profaner iranischer Architektur vom Mittelalter bis zur Vormoderne anhand ausgewählter Werke und Werkgruppen. Unterschiedliche Ansätze der Deutung und Perspektiven der Historiographie iranischer Architektur islamischer Zeit werden diskutiert.
