The lecture addresses students of Art History and is open to interested students of other disciplines such as Oriental Studies. The discussion is based on formal and comparative analysis put into a historical context.
Assessment and permitted materials
Exam (most likely multiple choice) in the last session at the end of the semester. Preconditions: regular participation and reading.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Die Lehrveranstaltung vermittelt anhand zentraler, teils archäologisch erschlossener Bauten und Werke wesentliche Beispiele von Bautypen und Funktionen, Bauformen und Baudekor der Jahre von ca. 650 bis 1000. Kontinuitäten, formale und thematische Neuerungen sollen deutlich gemacht und fallweise Deutungsansätze diskutiert werden. So sollte ein Bild von Charakteristika entstehen und eine Reflexion darüber, dass ihre Formulierung wesentlich an die Prämissen unseres Herangehens gebunden ist.
