150020 UE Exercise Course Economic Systems in East Asia (2020W)

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Positive grades (grade 4 or better) for all formal requirements as listed under “Assessment (Art der Leistungskontrolle)” are a minimum requirement for passing this course.
Grading is based on a “continuous assessment of coursework” (“Prüfungsimmanente Lehrveranstaltung”). Repetition of individual assessment criteria, therefore, is not possible.

The “Presentation on Research Topic” is individual and is part of a panel with a global topic, and counts as a minimum requirement (“Mindestanforderung”). Therefore, students must pass it in order to achieve an overall pass for the course.
- Deadline for submission of topic and registration for a panel: 09 November (10:00) via Moodle.
- The individual presentation [5 minutes] is part of a panel with a broader topic. The student must provide an outlook of the topic for the term paper for the Seminar of Economic Systems in East Asia. The oral presentation must be based on a poster that includes the following sections: introduction, relevance of topic, research question, highlights of the literature review, research gap and possible methods. Students must record a presentation (poster with audio narration.) with the key information and submit it on Moodle 24 hours before the presentation (Poster size: A3 – PDF).
- Unannounced (less than 48h in advance) absence on the day of your presentation results in an immediate fail of the presentation and the whole course.

- The discussion panels will take place virtually, via BigBlueButton
1) Panelist for the day will be given moderator status in order to enable video and screen sharing rights to answer questions and discuss presentations.
2) Students are required to watch the recorded presentations before the class begins. The lecturer will open the discussion with questions on their topics. Students are also expected and encouraged to provide feedback to the presenters.
3) After the session, each panelist will have to submit a written feedback about a one of the presentations of that day (via Moodle, using submission form).

**Active participation in discussions and class exercises is encouraged and expected from students. Bearing this in mind, regular attendance is mandatory.

During the first online (real-time) class (12.10.2020), the lecturer will explain all minimum requirements and assessment criteria. By continuing this course, students accept all minimum requirements and assessment criteria. Attendance at the first class thus is mandatory. Absence at the first meeting will lead to automatic de-registration from this course. If a student has troubles with the connection on Moodle, she/he must contact the lecturer per e-mail.

In order to guarantee a stable connection, students are advised to:
- Log in a couple of minutes earlier in order to set the internet connection, as well as audio and video settings,
- Use a common internet browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, Opera...),
- For optimal audio quality, it is suggested to use headphones,
- Should you have any issues, contact the lecturer or a classmate, to establish a connection via phone call,
- Virtual classes will be recorded and available online after the end of the session.
