Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

This research colloquium serves as a forum for the presentation and discussion of doctoral candidates’ research projects. This colloquium has a specific focus on quantitative social science research. It is open to doctoral students in sociology or related disciplines whose thesis falls within the broad field of social stratification research (e.g., education and labour market research, social inequality and social mobility, employment and economic welfare of individuals and households, life course research, ageing, well-being and health).

The colloquium serves to specify research aims and develop research designs, discuss the relevant literature and state of knowledge as well as to further develop methodological skills. The participants are expected to present and discuss a chapter of their thesis or a paper based on their thesis in class. The aim is to discuss work-in-progress with peers and the lecturer.
