Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Central perspectives of homiletic theory and preaching practice. Important dimensions are: (1) persons, (2) texts and traditions, (3) speech/communication, (4) situations.
Assessment and permitted materials
Personal reflections on the texts (verbal or written) (25%), expert statement (5min) with discussion (50%), written essay or final interview (5 pages) (25%).
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Knowledge of the central perspectives of homiletic theory. Ability to position oneself in relevant debates.
Examination topics
discussions, expert statements, case-based text and video analysis.
Reading list
There will be a READER with all relevant texts. Recommended: Engemann Wilfried / Lütze Frank (Ed.), Grundfragen der Predigt. Ein homiletisches Studienbuch. Leipzig 2009 (2nd edition); Conrad Ruth / Weeber Martin (Ed.), Protestantische Predigtlehre. Eine Darstellung in Quellen, Tübingen 2012.
