Aims, contents and method of the course
Aim: The students gain an overview of central issues and sub-disciplines of practical theology and are able to communicate about the fundamental findings of practical theological work. The students are able to discuss theologically and to contextualize problems from practice.Contents: Basics of practical theology (subject, context and hermeneutics); also basics of the practical-theological sub-disciplines: church theory, pastoral theology, liturgy, homiletics, poimenics, diaconics, Christian journalism and ascetics/theology of spirituality.Method: Individual reading of relevant textbook literature (to prepare for the seminar), close reading of relevant passages (to improve text understanding), group discussions (to promote positionality), presentations and small exercises.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Minimum requirements:
• Attendance (students may miss a maximum of two units without excuse).
• Willingness to prepare a presentation
• Willingness to take part in plenary discussions
• Regular reading and preparationThe lecturer can invite students to an interview if necessary.Grading:
The assessment is based on a weighted overall grade from the following performances:
1. Tasks: 40%
2. Short presentation: 40%
3. Qualified collaboration: 20%Each partial performance must be positive. An individual agreement on alternative grading requirements is possible .
