Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The objectives of the course are as follows: • You will be able to describe relevant pastoral care concepts in a well-founded way; you will be able to relate to their theoretical premises, anthropological implications and theological points argumentatively as well as by recourse to relevant source texts. • You will be able to perceive different understandings of pastoral care (from practice and from the seminar group), to outline their concerns and to compare them. You will be able to situate your own understanding of pastoral care in the field and bring it into our discussions. • You will be able to express yourself in a qualified manner on the topic of pastoral care, participate in pastoral care debates and represent your own theological position.Contents and methods: The focus is on an examination of important pastoral care concepts and widespread understandings of pastoral care. In addition to exercise sequences, close readings and group discussions in the seminar, individual examination of texts and exercises prior to the units is central. Another focus is on the work on one's own understanding of pastoral care - this includes the active confrontation with previous understandings and the visualization of one's own theological convictions and positions. The individual progress of knowledge is documented in a seminar paper on a self-selected topic.
