Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Students will learn which threat scenarios can occur in the distributed systems communications and which solutions and approaches can be applied from the standpoint of Network Security. In that context, security goals ( Authentification, Confidetiality and Availability) will be presented and clarified. The students will get familiar with the software-technical solutions, such as application of cryptographical procedures, as well as hardware-based security technologies, e.g. Firewalls, Intrusion Detection systems and how these technologies can be used to protect their information.

Assessment and permitted materials

Written exam at the end of the semester without additional resources

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Written exam is graded as positive starting from 50% of overall points. Further grades assesment is : >=60 % satisfying, >= 75% good, >= 85% very good

Examination topics

All contents that are being presented in VO ( lectures), as well as complete script( all exceptions will be announced accordingly), pictures and diagrams drawn on the board and oral clarifications of the lecturer
