In the first four blocked meetings, key texts on culture of remembrance, history and remembrance in museums as well as museums and identity and critical visitor research will be discussed.
Reading of the texts and discussions will prepare for guided visits to four museums in Vienna (Weltmuseum, Museum of Military History, Jewish Museum and the Austrian Parliament) with a focus on the representation of central themes of Austrian memory culture and identity constructions as well as colonialism in the exhibitions of these museums.
As integral part of the guided tours, there will also be opportunities for background discussions with the museum management, individual curators and active tour guides.
