Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The lecture introduces the basics of academic thinking in the Faculty of History and Cultural Studies. Objects, questions and approaches that make up historical and cultural studies thinking are presented. The concepts of culture and history and central terms such as space, time and actor are discussed. In addition, academics from individual institutes will present their work and their approach in order to provide an insight into the research fields of the disciplines.
Assessment and permitted materials
The material presented in the lecture will be examined on the basis of recordings and PowerPoint presentations as well as basic and compulsory reading.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Students know the basics of historical and cultural studies research as well as the different theoretical and methodological approaches of cultural studies disciplines.
Examination topics
Written module examination (5 ECTS) (multiple choice), 50% of the multiple choice questions must be answered in order to successfully complete the lecture.Bonus points of up to 20 points can be achieved for additional voluntary work. The additional points only count if the examination is passed.
