Aims, contents and method of the course

Content & Aim: This is an interactive seminar-type course for students embarking on, or already working on their linguistic Diplomarbeit or Dissertation. The seminar will give participants the opportunity to discuss not only the progress of their own work but also issues arising from it of a more general theoretical or practical interest.

Assessment and permitted materials

In order to get credit for this course, students will present their own ongoing research, submit a response paper on selected readings (to be provided in class) and take an oral exam based on the readings of the response paper.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Examination topics

Participants will collaborate in the close and critical examination of ideas about language and language study. Giving and receiving feedback and support for thesis work is an important aspect of this course.
