Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This course will combine history ((proto-)feminism) with theory (women studies; gender studies; masculinity studies; queer theory). Since our primary objects of analysis will be theory texts, the focus is less on literary analysis/interpretation than on dissecting and understanding other scholars' arguments and grasping the concepts they put forward. At the same time there will be an opportunity to analyse cultural objects in the gender-clip tasks, which will also offer a chance of making use of the encountered theory concepts, of criticising and/or enhancing them.
