Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Subsequent to a brief discussion of linguistic models, this course provides an introduction to the currently most important research methods in linguistics. Specifically, the course covers methods of data collection such as elicitation, questionnaires, and interviews, corpus compilation and analysis, statistical analysis, and qualitative data analysis.

This course aims to
- develop an awareness of the specific research methods necessary for investigating students' own research questions (especially their MA theses)
- provide hands-on experience with a range of different methods
- develop an understanding of the interdependence of research interest, theory and method
- develop an awareness of the practical implications of different research strategies and the time and effort involved
