Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The course will deal with scribal training literature in Sumerian from the Old Babylonian period. We will read passages of selected texts; students will present short papers (15 min) on pertinent topics. The language spoken in class will be English and/or German, according to the students' preferences and requirements.

Assessment and permitted materials

Minimal requirements for receving a pass grade: active participation in class (preparation of the texts to be read, participation in the discussions); oral presentation and, for BA Seminars with a (BA-)thesis and for MA seminars, writing of Seminar paper (or BA thesis, including reaction on feedback), in accordance with the indications given in class and in accordance with the rules of best scientific practice.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Participation is mandatory, three classes can be missed.

Key for grading:
Every single contribution is evaluated separately. Active regular participation in class (text reading) contributes to the final grade by 50% (80% in BA seminars without seminar paper), the oral presentation contributes by 20%, and, if required, the seminar paper (or BA thesis), with reaction to feedback, by 30%.
