Aims, contents and method of the course

The students obtain basic knowledge and skills in Classical Mechanics and the basic working of Theoretical Physics.

Content: Newtonian Mechanics, Variational Calculus, Hamilton’s principle, Langrange formulation, Noether theorem, Galilei transformations, two-body problem, oscillations, Legendre transform, Hamilton formulation, Poisson brackets, canonical transformations, introduction to special relativity, Lorentz transformations.

Assessment and permitted materials

Written exam.
No assistance.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

At least 50% of the total points must be obtained for a positive evaluation.
Grades for x % points:
5: x < 50%
4: 50<= x < 62,5%
3: 62,5% <= x < 75%
2: 75% =< x < 87,5%
1: 87,5% <= x <= 100%
