Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The seminar prepares students in the “Socio-Economic Transformations” Specialisation for their master’s thesis. Students learn about the process of conceptualising, researching, writing, and defending a master’s thesis and are familiarised with standards, requirements, and expectations.
Students present their research interests and methodical plans which are then discussed in course. In these discussions, students receive feedback from peers and lecturers. The outcome of the course is a draft thesis outline (“Disposition”) which will be graded and serves as the basis of finding a suitable thesis supervisor.
Participation by students in the discontinued master’s programme “Geography: Global Change & Sustainability” (Specialisation B) is highly recommended and can be credited for the mobility module (subject to prior written approval by the responsible mobility officer, M. Benner).
