Aims, contents and method of the course
Execution of a small stand-alone research project covering all major steps from identifying testable hypotheses via planning, organizing and conducting the necessary experimental and analytical approaches to data analyses, interpretation and presentation preferably in the form of a scientific manuscript.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Students are able to independently design and conduct a research project in systematic and evolutionary botany. This includes the search for relevant literature, formulation of testable hypotheses, and application of analytical or statistical methods in a novel context, the structuring of experimental or laboratory procedures, data gathering and data analysis, as well as presentation and discussion of the results.
Examination topics
Practical; students are assigned to the participating research groups and, hence, will also be integrated in their current research activities
