Aims, contents and method of the course
Structure and function of the nucleus, chromosomes and inheritance, methods for the preparation of chromosomes in mitosis and meiosis, human chromosomes, basic methods in molecular genetics (DNA isolation, PCR amplification, restriction digest, DNA gel electrophoresis, cloning).Course held partly in English (slides in German, exam in German)
Assessment and permitted materials
The evaluation consists of: active participation and results obtained; written report (molecular biology part) and drawings (cytology); final exam. Absence of maximally half a day allowed if proper reason is given.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Grading:
Min. 50% of the points required to pass
- Active participation in the course- 10% (2 pts)
- Written report + Drawings - 20% (4 pts)
- Final written exam - 70% (14 pts)
Total: 100% (20 points)
20,0-18,5 – 1 (excellent)
18,0-16,0 – 2 (good)
15,5-13,0 – 3 (satisfactory)
12,5-10,0 – 4 (sufficient)
9,5-0,0 – 5 (failed)
