Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

- Improving skills needed to produce grammatically correct texts in English;
- Raising awareness of the Lexicon-Syntax-Semantics interface in English;
- Recognizing and using linguistic variation in the situational context;
- Distinguishing between prescriptive and descriptive approaches to grammar;
Possible topics: Time and Tense, Aspect, Mood, Voice, Conditionals, Word Formation, Modals, Catenative Verbs, Reported Speech, Relative Clauses, The Passive, Inversion & Emphasis, Adverbs and Adjectives, Articles and Determiners;
Flipped classroom model; pair work, group work.

Assessment and permitted materials

2 Mini tests (20%)
Midterm test (40%)
Final test (40%)
Electronic devices as well as dictionaries and/or grammars are not allowed in tests.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Grading:
90% > 1
80% > 2
70% > 3
60% > 4 (pass grade)
< 59% 5 (fail)
Both tests (midterm & final) must be positive (students need to reach at least 60% of the total score in each).
