- 1 group assignment (25%)
- Timely submission of ALL required assignments/active participation in class (15%)

Students are expected to apply the skills acquired as well as the methods and strategies discussed in class in order to produce new texts.

Raising students' awareness of language variation, especially in terms of register (medium, domain, tenor); expanding students' lexical and syntactic repertoires; helping students identify the specific needs of target groups and adapt their language choices to serve different communicative purposes; helping students realize how language choices are motivated by social factors and vice versa: social consequences of language choices; encouraging students to explore/search for their own idiolect.CONTENT:
Authentic texts/speeches/debates from English-speaking countries (daily nespapers, magazines, TV shows).METHODS:
In-class analysis of authentic texts/speeches/debates in English with particular attention to text conventions, purpose, function, effects and audience; individual, pair and group assignments with accompanying feedback (with a strong focus on peer review).
