Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The seminar is devoted to the interplay of theory and empiricism, using the example of the doctoral students' own work. The possibilities of linking theoretical concepts and epistemological approaches with the respective research questions and using them to evaluate empirical material will be discussed.
Based on topics and concepts of the participants, texts on theoretical conceptions and epistemological approaches will be discussed in a first block. In the second block we will reflect on possibilities of cognition and operationalizability on the basis of selected conceptions and exemplary material. In the third and last block we will present excerpts of our own work with regard to the link between empiricism and theory. For this purpose, a maximum of 10 pages of text (exposé, lecture, chapter excerpt) are to be submitted and presented orally.
The seminar consists of
- text discussion
- discussion of material
- Discussion of own work
