Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

What kind of stage is the avant-garde in Bulgarian literature of the 1920s of the last century? Why has it not been clearly recorded and registered in literary history up to this point? Why is it now being discovered, recognized, segregated as an aesthetic phenomenon and reconstructed in its conceivable diversity of the most diverse art movements (Expressionism, Imaginism, Dadaism, Surrealism, Constructivism, Diabolism, Futurism, etc.)? Who are its radical representatives? How do the figures Geo Milev, Emanuil Popdimitrov, Atanas Daltschev look like from the perspective of the avant-garde, and what do marginal authors like the avant-garde from the provincial city of Jambol look like? How does literary history modify itself when viewed from the perspective of the avant-garde?
How should these radical texts and critical manifestations be dealt with, since works of this kind a priori are confronted with any interpretation and eluded him? What is the analysis of such a text?
The discussion of the avant-garde in Bulgarian literature should lead to a scientific forum (June 25, 2019, University of Vienna), which will be organized around the newly published, complete anthology "Balgarski poetichen avangard" (2018) and where proven researchers of this problem will present their views on avant-garde literature.
